Walder Foundation

Walder Foundation is a private family foundation based in Skokie, Illinois. The Foundation’s grantmaking is concentrated primarily in the Chicago region and supports life science research, the environment, performing arts, immigration and Jewish causes.

I was responsible for defining the Foundation’s brand for its target audiences of grantees, funding partners, and others engaged in the philanthropic sector. I developed communications strategies for programs and managed all content development for the Foundation, including websites, email, social media, speeches, media releases, and thought leadership articles.

As the Foundation’s first communications director, I built the department from the ground up, setting standards and project workflows for communications for programs, grants management and marketing.

I spearheaded the launch of numerous high-profile projects, including the Resilient by Nature Project (RxN), an initiative engaging conservation leaders to implement nature-based solutions in Chicago neighborhoods, and Chicago Takes 10, a virtual performance series to support performing artists and arts organizations negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
