Oprah’s Angel Network
In 2006, Oprah's Angel Network launched an internal initiative to redefine its mission, reassess its programs and funding areas, and identify ways to engage Oprah's long-time supporters more directly in her philanthropic work. As the Network’s first communications officer, I oversaw the re-branding of the Angel Network and the development of a new member-focused website.
Building an online movement:
The initiative included the creation of a first-time development program and fundraising communications.
Radio spots
As part of the strategy to promote grantees and projects of the Angel Network, monthly radio spots ran on XM satellite radio:
O Ambassadors
O Ambassadors was a four-year collaborative program that Oprah's Angel Network developed with a nonprofit organization based in Canada. At the program's core was the creation of school-based clubs that connected young people in the United States and Canada with those in developing countries to address issues based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The project was designed to run as part of existing in-school curriculum or as an out-of-school program (service learning). O Ambassadors paired social studies with social action.
The program was the first of its kind for the Angel Network. As the program manager, I oversaw the creation of a brand/identity for the program, marketing communications, classroom materials (youth guides, posters, educator guides), and the development a website that included an online community for young people to track and share their achievements in the program.
